Took Andy out for his first lesson. I put him on our old Hifly Superfun's 335, with a 4.0 sail.
I spent a while talking through what you are supposed to do, but Andy, to his credit, was listening and picked it up straight away.
We got out on the water at about 12:00
Andy did exactly what I'd said and sailed almost straight away. It was good to watch.
A couple of guys came past on kite boards, they were just cruising, but smiling, so that was nice.
After a while I had a sail, to stop me getting cold, and I did a few rig flips, 360's (not planing, just with the rig)and a couple of helitacks. But it was all light wind stuff. The Hifly is still a decent board, although the wide styles do make it look narrow.
Andy then went off sailing about the estuary on his own.
I was very impressed.
All in all, a good day.
Eventually the wind (what little there was) dropped, and Andy got caught in the tide. So I grabbed a board and went after him, but by the time I got there he was already on the bank. So the pair of us ended up with a long walk home.
And to finish the day we (Andy & Karen, Sarah and I) walked the coast path to Aberystwyth, had a lovely meal and got a taxi home)
A good day..... :D
